Hi, we're Jackie and Jessie Rat, Ruth's pets. Ruth adopted us in September of 2006 from Kim's Ark Rescue. We loved our foster mommy, but we were glad to go to a home of our own. We moved in to Ruth's room into an "apartment", which was temporary. Soon, though, Ruth moved us into a bigger cage, which was lots of fun! She played with us all the time, and although she was nocturnal and we were diurnal (I don't know how she can go to sleep when it's still dark out!), we found time to play.

With every couple of months, our diet changed again. We started out by eating seeds supplemented with lab blocks, which we hated. Next, we tried a cereal based diet, which we liked more but still not much. Later, we tried a dog food based diet, which we also disliked. Now, we eat people food, which we adore! Our Grandmother (Libby) cooks the best food!

Any way, we've got to go now. I think I smell some food cooking!
